Absolutely not. The main focus of training in the martial arts is self-control and discipline. It does not promote fighting or aggression – just the opposite. Martial arts is about learning how to avoid conflict and, as a last resort, defend one’s self when no other option is available.
Research on martial arts safety has been done for decades. The data shows that you are more likely to be injured when playing basketball or football than participating in martial arts. While there is some risk involved in participating in any sport, safety is our top priority.
